ART GARDEN

PROJECT

Community Arts by ZK completed another summer project working with children ages 5-13 as part of the Fun Vibes, Active Lives - holiday activities and food programme (HAF) supported by Pendle Borough Council. This scheme provides enriching summer activities for children to inspire healthy living.

Our community artist, Louise Cunningham led the HAF project with help from outdoor learning officer, Alison Cross from the Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership. The children took part in a variety of creative activities that aimed to embed art into nature, transforming and enhancing this fantastic space. Alison taught the children about pollination, insects and growing your own food. The children planted seeds and spent time mini-beast hunting and making a large insect hotel! Louise delivered art workshops with the children where they explored painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, mixed media, natural dying and printing. The children’s artwork has transformed the space and it looks incredibly vibrant and colourful. Through artist walks, creative workshops and outdoor learning, this project aimed to inspire sustainable and healthy living whilst giving the children creative outlooks and skills in problem solving. This project boosted the children’s confidence and improved their overall wellbeing through being outdoors, getting active and eating healthily. Lots of new friends were made and lots of fun was had!

Thank you to Pendle Borough Council, Fun Vibes Active Lives, In-Situ and Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership for supporting this great project.
