OUR PRESENCE IN PATTERN
Community Arts by ZK delivered a project titled Our Presence in Pattern, funded by The Hilden Charitable Trust, which involved a series of workshops that explored symmetry and repetition within traditional Arabesque design.
This project was assisted from Community Artist Hannah Smith, and Refugee Project Developer Busaina Ismail, participants had the opportunity to develop their own designs through a series of mixed media workshops, including sketching and mono printing, which was finished with the design of a paper lantern.

This project was inspired by the shapes and details found in Arabesque design as well as the investigation of contemporary artists that utilise the same processes and materials within each workshop. Through each session we provided a calm and relaxing time, exploring artistic methods at our own pace.
Through Our Presence in Pattern, we aimed to build community resilience, learn new skills and feel empowered as individuals and we believe we delivered exactly this.
