ARTS  FOR WELLBEING

Community arts collaborated with Pendle Leisure Trust to deliver a series of creative workshops that were a part of a two-year programme called Arts for Wellbeing. These workshops, funded by Arts Council England and Clinical Commissioning Group, aimed to improve participants mental health through art, creativity and social connection. Experienced community artists Zaneb Khatun and Louise Cunningham explored textiles, fibre and mixed media with the group teaching them a variety of techniques and processes such as block and screen printing, dyeing techniques, embroidery, weaving, and fabric manipulation.

The workshops contributed towards creating spectacular final mixed media textile sculptures that were unique and intriguing in terms of form, colour, shape, line and texture. These sculptures were then displayed in a professional, high-quality exhibition in Colne town centre.

The project has been a huge success and we would like to thank all who were involved.
